I'm a math freak! I love measuring and calculating and seeing my project come to life. I'm going to show you a simple method of making a photo frame that requires little calculation and the result is quite nice.
First, figure out what size frame you want (the outer and inner dimension). Cut the outer dimension out of your card stock. I'm working with a 4" x 4" square. Next, draw lines on the backside of your card stock from each corner creating triangles. Mark your corners with a notch and number your pieces on the edge so you will be able to put it back together.
Then, mark your sides the width you want the frame to be (outer dimension minus inner dimension, divided by two equals side width). Mine are 3/4". I used grid paper and my ruler to make this super easy. A small quilters ruler would work well too.
Your card stock should look like the images below when you have all your lines drawn.
Cut out your triangles using a paper cutter. Cut again so you have four of the bottom image.
Reassemble your sides in number order, matching up your notches and securing with tape. Optional: Before you reassemble, sponge all edges for a more finished look.
Finish your project! I added Stampin Dimensionals under my frame.
