Another Fund Raising Stamp-a-Stack

Card making is a passion for me that I love to share. Combining it with a fund raiser to help others kicks it up a notch (I promise, it's possible)! Join me to help raise funds for the fight against breast cancer. You get to have fun and go home with 10 beautiful pink cards (2 ea of 5 designs), and 100% of the profits will go to support the Avon Foundation Breast Cancer Crusade.

Apex resident, Kathleen Kenney, will take steps toward ending breast cancer by participating in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer, a weekend-long walk of 39.3 miles. In addition, she has pledged to raise a minimum of $1800 for the Avon Foundation in order to support their mission to advance access to care and find a cure. Join us to help Kathleen reach her goal!

American Red Cross Make-and-takes

Here are pictures of the cards we will be making at the upcoming American Red Cross/ Queen of Hearts event. Attendees will be making 2 of each card for a $20 class fee. I am donating 100% of the profits to the American Red Cross. If you haven't yet registered, please do so quickly, space is limited.

I have found that crafters are compassionate people. I think that is one of the reasons I love being a Stampin' Up! demonstrator. I LOVE sharing with others, which is why I've decided to participate in an American Red Cross fund raiser. I hope you will be able to join me for this event!

American Red Cross Fund raising Event

Join us for a fun-filled greeting card making class. You will go home with 10 beautiful cards to show off, and 100% of the profits will go to support local Red Cross services.

In addition to supporting the American Red Cross, you will be helping a local candidate from Apex High School, Christine Schulze, achieve her dream of becoming the next Queen of Hearts. The Queen of Hearts is a youth program created to increase youth awareness of the services the American Red Cross provides in our community.

Anna's Pizzeria is a fabulous place to eat! They open at 11:00am, so come early for a bite before the event.

Christine Schulze is a member of several service organizations at Apex High, including Key Club and National Honors Society, sings in her church teen choir, and also works part-time.  She is a compassionate, enthusiastic young woman who has been committed to helping others and is considering a future career in psychology or counseling.

Stampin’ Up’s Haitian Disaster Relief

I want to share a message from Stampin' Up! with you:

Stampin′ Up! demonstrators have a long history of making a difference in the lives of others–especially when disaster strikes and the need is greatest. So it was not surprising that so many demonstrators have contacted us in the past week asking what the plan is for helping to provide relief for those who continue to suffer from the effects of the earthquake that struck Haiti on January 12.

Here is the plan:

From now until February 28, 2010, $2 from every I {Heart} Hearts stamp set sold will be donated American Red Cross’ Haiti Relief and Development Fund. I will personally donate an additional $5 for every I {Heart} Hearts stamp set I sell. The Red Cross is already well-established in Haiti, and this money will be used to provide immediate relief and long-term support through supplies, technical assistance and other support to help those in need.

Valentine Banner

After receiving the gorgeous Specialty Designer Series Paper, Sending Love Specialty, I was inspired to make a valentine banner. This paper is so beautiful that I had issues cutting it up! I did get over it and created this...

Making this banner was like making a mini scrapbook without the photos.

To make the banner base, cut 5 pieces of card stock 5 1/4 x 8 1/2 and score in half at 4 1/4 (similar to a card base). Lay the pieces out in the order you want to adhere them making sure to alternate the folds up and down so you get an accordion look. You should have one panel of each base covering another panel. Adhere panels together and decorate as desired.

....and loved the layout so much that I decided to use it to make a Valentine card.

Layer sizes:

Whisper White: 4" x 5 1/4"
Melon Mambo: 1 1/4" x 4"
Chocolate Chip: 1" x 4"

I cut out the heart and the 'Feb. 14' and used Dimensionals to add depth. The 'Feb. 14' is on two Dimensionals stacked.

Crafting is a wonderful outlet for me, and I love sharing it with others.  Rubber stamping and paper crafting are my specialties, but I dabble in other crafts as you will see. Happy New Year!

I'm back after the crazy holidays! I did enjoy the end of the year, and I hope you all did too. My SIL and nephew came to visit for the New Years weekend. We always cook up some kind of project to do when we are together. I was given an assignment at work to decorate a wreath, so that became our weekend project. After sitting around and surfing the internet for hours (one craft tangent to the next!), I decided I wanted to make cookies. Not just any cookies, faux cookies!

We had help from the kids too; it was a family affair! The cookies look good enough to eat.

 

My SIL came up with the brilliant idea of adding doilies to the wreath. I have to admit, there were many hands responsible for this beauty. I drove over to my friend Jen's house for last minute advise. The finished product will be hanging in the Blue Tiger gift shop's window very soon!

Inspired at Target

While walking through Target yesterday, a very cute Holiday plate jumped out at me! I immediately thought the layout would make a very nice card without needing many supplies. I wish I could share a photo of the plate, but I don't have the ability to send photos with my cell phone (I save my money for stamping supplies...LOL!). Using a very basic layout I created two cards.

This card features the Snow Buddies level two hostess set. Besides the stamp set, I used Very Vanilla Card Stock, Brocade Blue Classic ink pad, and a Brocade Blue Stampin' Write Marker. All edges are sponged and the main image is adhered with Dimensionals to give the card some depth. To make the snowflakes lighter, I stamped the image onto scrap paper once before stamping onto my card stock.

This Season of Joy card was created the same way, except an additional layer of Dusy Durango card stock was added. Both cards have a warm, country feel, which is exactly how I felt when I saw the plate in Target. I guess my interpretation was successful!
